Title: Matrix Inequalities and Applications II
Speaker: Ben Li (Graduate Student, Case Western Reserve University MAMS Department)
Abstract: We continue to present classical matrix inequalities. In this talk we show the Fuchs-van de Graaf inequalities, which relatetwo “distances” measuring the closeness of twoquantumstates (or of two probability densities): fidelity and the 1-norm. Next, combining with Rotfeld’s inequality, we sketch some of their applications to the geometry of Schatten spaces and to quantum information theory.
The talk is largely independent from the first lecture.
