CWRU alumnus Geoff Wedig was honored with an Academy Award for Scientific and Technical Achievement in a ceremony held on February 11, 2017. Wedig, who completed a BS in Mathematics and a BA English at CWRU in 1994 and an MS in Computer Engineering at UCLA in 1995, also worked at the university as a Senior Software Developer for 12 years before making a career change to computer animation in 2007. Wedig’s work in facial-performance-capture has been featured in such movies as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Tron: Legacy, and Deadpool.
