As of October 2019, Dr. Calvetti has joined the SIAM Book series on Mathematical Modeling and Computation, and as of December 2019  – the editorial board of the SIAM REVIEW. She was recently featured in a SIAM article, The Unique Aspects of Writing a Book, where she contributed reasons on what motivates her to write a book. “One is to say something new and exciting that cannot be found in other books or easily grasped from articles, and the other is to propose a very different point of view on something that has been covered over and over.” In this article, we feel Dr. Calvetti’s passion for supporting students’ ongoing learning of the mathematical sciences, through her reasoning why she likes writing books for SIAM.
