The department awards several teaching and research assistantships to PhD students each year. Recipients of teaching assistantships are expected to teach or assist with the instructional work of the department. All assistantship awards include tuition and stipend to cover basic living expenses. The stipends vary according to the nature of the award but are comparable to those of other graduate schools. At this time, support is only available to a select number PhD students. We do not offer support for MS students.

There is no separate application form for an assistantship. To be certain of consideration for financial aid for the following academic year, an applicant must have all application material on file by January 15. Late applications will be considered only if there are still graduate assistantships which have not been awarded.
