Professor Daniela Calvetti named to Editorial Board
The Department of Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Statistics is pleased to announce that our own Professor Daniela Calvetti has been named to the Editorial Board of Mathematical Biosciences, a peer-reviewed scientific publication published by the Elsevier company.
According to the journal’s website (https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/mathematical-biosciences), “Mathematical Biosciences publishes work providing new concepts or new understanding of biological systems using mathematical models, or methodological articles likely to find application to multiple biological systems. Papers are expected to present a major research finding of broad significance for the biological sciences, or mathematical biology.”
Professor Calvetti is a natural for the position, having worked for many years in the area of mathematical modeling of biological systems. She coauthored a textbook “Computational Mathematical Modeling: An Integrated Approach Across Scales” that is used in our own doctoral program in applied mathematics, as well as two additional monographs in applied mathematics. Professor Calvetti is the James Wood Williamson Professor of Mathematics, and has been a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics since 2023.
