The Department of Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Statistics is excited to announce three faculty members have recently been awarded tenure! Congratulations to Dr. Alethea Barbaro, Dr. Jenny Brynjarsdottir, and Dr. Longhua Zhao. Congratulations on reaching this milestone in your career!
Dr. Barbaro received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Tufts University. She went on to pursue the Master’s and PhD from the University of California, Berkley. Dr. Barbaro began her career at CWRU in 2012. Her research focuses on mathematical models, generally of social organisms, from the perspective of kinetic theory.
Dr. Brynjarsdottir received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Iceland. She went on to receive the M. Sc. in Industrial Engineering, followed by the M. Sc. and PhD in Statistics from Ohio State University. Dr. Brynjarsdottir has been with the department since 2012. Her research interests are Bayesian hierarchical modeling and dimension reduction approaches to space-time modeling.
Dr. Longhuao Zhao received her B.S. in Computational Mathematics from Shanxi University. She completed a M.S. in Computational Mathematics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She received her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Zhao’s research interests are applied mathematics, modeling, fluid dynamics, and scientific computation.
